ARE PROUD TO PRESENT
SLO AND DYSFUNCTIONAL
VOLUME SIX!
It's back for the 6th straight year! If you're in a local band, this is your big shot at getting the recognition that you totally deserve.
This year, we're adding in a new twist...
YOU GET TO DECIDE WHO MAKES IT ON THE CD!
To submit:
You must MAIL or DROP OFF your CD to us!!!
We will not be able to accept any mp3's, myspace links, cassette tapes, 8 tracks, mini discs, vinyl records, reel to reels, digital audio tape, or anything other than A CD that we can stick in a regular CD player!
What should I submit?
Ideally we'd like a CD that has a couple of your best tracks on it. If you send a full CD, mark on the CD which tracks you think we should listen to first. We don't have time to listen to everyone's entire full-length CD, so make sure we hear your best stuff!
Some bands also submit their press kit, bio, photo, etc. If you want to include it, go for it. If you don't have it, that's ok too. We won't hold it against you or anything.
But please INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT INFO ON THE CD! We need your band's name, your name, phone number, and an e-mail address would be good too. Your best bet is to write it on the CD, and not like stick a post it note on it, since sometimes we loose stuff like that. If we select you, we need to know how to contact you!
How do I get it there?
We're located at 51 Zaca Lane #100 in San Luis Obispo. We're open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday if you want to drop it off. If you want to mail it, don't waste your money on Next Day Fed Ex or UPS. It's really not necessary, and we know money's tight. Unless you're mailing it the day before the deadline, send it the cheap way... regular old US Mail is cool with us.
When is the deadline?
All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on February 26th.
Who is eligible to submit?
We're looking for local rock bands. By local, we mean that at least some of your members live in San Luis Obispo or Northern Santa Barbara County, and that you're available to play shows here, possibly on a regular basis. By "rock band" we mean something that is at least close to what we play on the radio. We're not looking for jazz or rap or country music. We're trying to expose the best in local rock music, so ask yourself if that's you or not.
I've submitted... What happens next?
After you submit your CD, there's no need to call us. We'll be reviewing all of the entries beginning on the 16th. We'll narrow things down and post the top bands on our website. New for this year... YOU get to VOTE on your favorite bands to make the CD! The top 8 bands are guaranteed to be on the CD.
Do I need to call you every day and ask if you've listened to our CD yet?
No, please don't. You'll only piss us off, and we don't like people who piss us off.
What's with the Battle of the Bands?
This is new for this year too. The top 8 vote-getters not only get on the CD, but get to compete for prizes in a Battle of the Bands. We'll have more details on this soon.
How will I know if we've been selected?
We will call each of the winning bands, and post them on the website. We will not call you if you are not selected. You can call us and tell us we suck if you want, but that's not going to help your cause any.
I have questions still.
